Big fish eat small bait! As anyone who
has seen a school of tuna or bass will attest to, when game fish are feeding on small bait
sometimes the only way to get them is to imitate the size of the bait. The Fryz patterns
effectively imitate nearly all the small non-descript bait that congregate in vast schools
and are the staple diet of many game fish.
These flies are also highly effective for jacks,
snappers, mackerel and all manner of warm water/tropical game fish too!
Olive/white and tan/white are highly effective when anchovies, spearing, sand eels
(Sea Lances), killies and shinners are the main bait. The silver/white
is a good all-around reflective pattern for when fish are reacting mostly to flash than to
colors. The red/white is a highly visible pattern that can often take fish when others fail.
FYI: In the fall seasons, red/white was the "secret
weapon" for many successful albacore and bass fishermen!
